Oct 09: Value for October: Cooperation

1. The act of working together to achieve a shared goal.
2. Helping to do what is asked or required.

This month we are exploring the need for Cooperation throughout our lives to help us survive in the 21st Century.  No-one  can really live on their own. We must all cooperate in order to survive, whether it’s Global Warming or helping to prepare for dinner!

Sept 09: Some of you will remember that at our Parent Consultation Meeting last year we asked you to choose your top 11 values that you feel are most important to you and your children. 

We have timetabled these over the year and the value for September is “Respect”.  During this month we shall be exploring what the meaning of Respect is to the children, their families and to the wider community. 

Although this is a school initiative it will only really have an impact if there is good partnership between home and school.  We need to work together to encourage children to form their own values system and reward them when they show a good response to our values in their daily life.

I will be keeping you informed of the “Value of the Month” and suggesting ways you can support it.

Respect means: The ability to recognize, tolerate and accept the beliefs or practices of others, whether it is their age, gender, race, height, clothes or favourite football team.

Background information

During Parent Consultation evenings in March 2009 the school's Governors asked parents about the Values that they consider most important in the bringing up of their children. The following received the most votes:
